DOINGS
There’s always something doing (and something to do) at Gemini Ink —
classes, events, performances, readings — and more good stuff.
:: CLASSES
Gemini Ink classes — writing workshops in various genres, reading and conversation groups, personal storytelling, and literary performance — are offered through two different areas.
Writers in Communities (WIC) workshops are always free to participants, who are generally chosen by the workshop’s host or sponsor from among the people they serve. Recent WIC hosts/sponsors include Any Baby Can, Martinez Street Women’s Center, and Harlandale School District.
The WIC program sends published, professional writers into schools, institutions, and other community settings to work alongside students of all ages and abilities. While in residence, the writers and their students create dynamic creative writing projects that challenge, celebrate, inspire and enlighten. Our innovative programs have been recognized and written up in The New York Times and San Antonio Express-News, among others.
Throughout the year, WIC and our collaborators sponsor public readings and celebrations to honor our participants and share their work with the general public. Check the calendar or the WIC web page for updates.
University Without Walls (UWW) classes are open to all, accessibly priced, and held in our home classrooms and performance space at 513 S. Presa St. The UWW program offers a wide range of classes and workshops for anyone with an inquisitive mind. Whether you’re a reader curious about ideas or a writer deeply committed to the craft of writing, you’ll find the bookworm’s camaraderie you’re looking for at Gemini Ink.
