The Multi-Faceted World of the Prose Poem

Add to your tool box of poetic styles by exploring the versatile form of the prose poem. Occupying a popular and feisty place in the world of contemporary letters, this genre can offer poets, and even curious prose writers, a whole new range of possibilities in style, tone and subject matter. Join us as we examine the challenges and freedoms a prose poem offers, and stretch your poetic voice in surprising and new directions. Discuss a wide array of prose poems and respond to innovative writing prompts to produce an exciting and diverse selection of work by the end of this workshop.

Alexandra van de Kamp is the author of Kiss/Hierarchy (Rain Mountain Press 2016) and The Park of Upside-Down Chairs (CW Books 2010), along with several chapbooks, including Dear Jean Seberg (2011), which won the 2010 Burnside Review Chapbook Contest. She has been published in numerous journals nationwide, such as Denver Quarterly, Connecticut Review, Washington Square, and The Cincinnati Review. For six years she lived in Madrid, Spain, where she co-founded and edited the bilingual journal, Terra Incognita.
