Natalie Diaz was born and raised in the Fort Mojave Indian Village in Needles, California. After playing professional basketball for several years, Diaz completed a double MFA in poetry and fiction at Old Dominino University. A Lannan Residency recipient, her first poetry collection, When My Brother Was an Aztec, was published by Copper Canyon Press in May 2012.
Andrew Porter received his MFA in Fiction Writing at the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop. He is the author of the short-story collection, The Theory of Light and Matter (Vintage/Random House), which won the Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction, and the novel, In Between Days (Knopf). He lives in San Antonio, where he directs the Creative Writing Program at Trinity University.
