King William Poetry Walking Tour

The book and broadsides are absolutely beautiful. Te ventates! Bravo! Thank you thank you thank you for the opportunity for literacy, creativity and pride that Gemini Ink and the King William Association so graciously gave to my students. You should have seen the pride that my students had on their faces when they saw their art and poetry in the beautifully bound book. Mil gracias! ~Terry Ybañez, host teacher and artist

What a success!– last fall’s collaboration with a group of Painting students at Brackenridge High School in SAISD, generously funded by the King William Association, and in part by the National Endowment for the Arts. Throughout the semester students in one of Terry Ybañez’s Painting classes explored dating, relationships, and healthy models of love, with Writer-in-Residence Brian Slaughter, as they produced gorgeous paintings and poetry. This work is now published in a book and on broadsides being displayed throughout the historic King William district in a Poetry Walking Tour through June 15. Some of the locations where you can see the work include Blue Star Art Gallery, El Mirador, El Sol Bakery, P.E.A.C.E. Initiative, Taco Haven and others– download the complete list here. And thank you to everyone who worked together for this amazing collaboration!
