And we’re back! Join us for our Fall edition of spoken-word on the beautiful patio by the river at Viva Tacoland. Featured readers are Yvette Benavides,Joe Jimenez, and Diamond Mason. Followed by open mic. Free and open to the public.

Yvette Benavides received the 2015 Literary Arts Award from the Artist Foundation of San Antonio and her award is supported by the City of San Antonio’s Department for Culture and Creative Development. She is a professor of English at Our Lady of the Lake University.

Joe Jiménez is the recipient of the 2016 Letras Latinas/ Red Hen Press Poetry Prize. The short film “El Abuelo,” based on Jiménez’s poem, has been screened in Belgium, the Netherlands, Mexico, France, Argentina, Ireland, England, and the US. He lives in San Antonio, Texas, and is a member of the Macondo Writing Workshops.

Diamond Mason is a founding member and co-coach of FreshInk, San Antonio’s first and only Youth Slam, and a co-founding member of The Blah Blah Blah Poetry Spot. She has been a member of the PuroSlam National Poetry Slam Team for 4 consecutive years (2012-2015), and has also competed at Brave New Voices as a member of the 2012 Austin TheySpeak Youth Slam team.
