How is the Personal the Political?: An Epistolary Workshop

March 2 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

$130

Explore the relationship between personal and environmental/political concerns with award-winning poet Michelle Whittaker. Through applying fresh techniques and generating epistolary poems, or letter poems, participants are invited to share new work that considers an eclecticism of points-of-view and dialogue between human and non-human beings in unexpected and innovative ways. Come away with drafts of poems that challenge and expand your ideas on what an environmental, political, and personal poem can be.

Michelle Whittaker has appeared in the New York Times Magazine, New Yorker, The Southampton Review, Narrative, and other publications.  She was awarded a 2017 NYFA Fellowship in Poetry and is the author of the poetry collection, Surge (great weather for MEDIA).

Non-member $130, Member $110, Student $85
