Notes to Gilgamesh: Crafting a Novel in Verse

November 7 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

$125

Poetry workshop with jo reyes- boitel

The novel in verse traces its origin to the epic poem, filled with its heroes and battles. Its recent literary resurgence speaks to its ability to provide a voice to marginalized communities. This four-session workshop will bridge the structure and narrative of the novel with the immediacy and imagery of poetry. Participants will consider contemporary examples of the form and begin their own novel in verse.

jo reyes-boitel is a poet, playwright, and essayist. Texas transplant by way of Minnesota | Florida | Mexico | Cuba. Her new book, Michael + Josephinea novel in verse, reimagines St. Michael the Archangel as a queer woman who falls in love with Josephine, a disaster relief worker.
