When My Brother Was an AztecNatalie Diaz was born and raised in the Fort Mojave Indian Village in Needles, California. Her first poetry collection, When My Brother Was an Aztec, was published by Copper Canyon Press. Diaz teaches at the Institute of American Indian Arts Low Residency MFA program and lives in Mohave Valley, Arizona, where she directs the Fort Mojave Language Recovery Program, working with the last remaining Mojave speakers at Fort Mojave to teach and revitalize the Mojave language.

Saretta Morgan is a Brooklyn-based writer. She has designed interactive, text-based experiences for The Whitney Museum of American Art, Dia Beacon, and the Tenri Cultural Institute. Her chapbooks, Elegy Against an Obscured Interior (2017) and Feeling Upon Arrival (2018) are forthcoming from Portable Press and Ugly Duckling Press, respectively. Joe Jiménez is the author of The Possibilities of Mud (Korima 2014) and Bloodline (Arte Público 2016), a young adult novel. Jiménez received the 2016 Letras Latinas/ Red Hen Press Poetry Prize and holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University Los Angeles. Listen to Joe read an excerpt of his novel Bloodline.
