Acclaimed author Rus Bradburd reads from his latest memoir, recently featured in The Chicago Tribune, The El Paso Times, and on NBC’s The Today Show. He’ll be joined by Shawn Harrington who attended Marshall High School and was featured briefly in the documentary film Hoop Dreams. Harrington coached at Marshall for years and survived a mistaken identity shooting in 2014. Don’t miss their conversation about this “true story of courage, endurance, and friendship in one of America's most violent neighborhoods.” Q&A and author signing to follow.

Literary Excursions: Critically Acclaimed Contemporary Short Stories

In each session of this class, we will examine two short stories, focusing on what distinguishes them from other examples of the form—the literary style, message, theme, characters or something else?
