Start your Cinco de Mayo celebrations with the first of this three-session writing workshop with award-winning poet and State Poet Laureate 2015 Carmen Tafolla. Find the buried treasure in your back yard and the rich writing material in your own life by exploring your own setting, culture, memories, and current experience to find those elements that are most powerful and through which you will be able to pour your passions and your talents to create that poem or short prose piece.

People have such unique experiences, but so often we don’t notice the forest for the trees, don’t see the intriguing elements of our own lives that are the essence of our very best writing. This online workshop will cover three 1-hour sessions with guides and activities to help you find your richest material, and then to develop it into a work of literary art. Participants will be able to post new drafts of work via Gemini Ink’s WetInk platform, where Dr. Tafolla will be offering written feedback on poems during the workshop.
