Dive into contemporary American poetry by closely examining an array of cutting-edge poets. Through close reading, we will identify key writing strategies that will expand our own poetry making. Use deep admiration to access a wider palette of poetic tones and structures that will reinvigorate and broaden your poetic sensibility. Poems generated will be workshopped in class with revision strategies offered.

San Antonio’s Literary History: A Plática with Tomás Ybarra-Frausto and Bryce Milligan

A year-long series of pláticas—public conversations—considering San Antonio’s rich multi-cultural literary history led by noted local scholars Dr. Tomás Ybarra-Frausto and Bryce Milligan. The first will feature readings from the newly published Literary San Antonio (TCU Press). Participating writers y luminarios literarios include Texas Poet Laureate Rosemary Catacalos, San Antonio and Texas Poet Laureate Jenny Browne, journalist Cary Clack, and San Antonio book collector Bill Fisher.
