Gemini Ink to receive $10,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts

San Antonio, Texas—Gemini Ink is thrilled to have been awarded a 2021 NEA grant of $10,000 in support of our Public Classes. The National Endowment for the Arts’s (NEA) Grants for Arts Projects award will support “The Power of Literary Community: A Year of Magical Engagement“—our public programming from June 1, 2021-May 31, 22. “The Power of Literary Community: A Year of Magical Engagement” project is among the more than 1,100 projects across America totaling nearly $27 million that were selected during this second round of Grants for Arts Projects fiscal year 2021 funding.

This funding helps Gemini Ink offer 25-30 low cost writing workshops to teach the craft of writing to individuals of all skill levels so they can bring their stories to life. It will also help underwrite our monthly virtual Book Club, The Big Texas Read, as well as our free monthly writing workshops: the Open Writers Lab and the Veterans Writing Collective. “An award from the NEA fuels Gemini Ink’s public virtual and in-person programs and empowers the diverse voices and communities of San Antonio while building our national footprint,” said Gemini Ink Executive Director Alexandra van de Kamp. “It also helps support our 2022 Spring Autograph Series.”

“As the country and the arts sector begin to imagine returning to a post-pandemic world, the National Endowment for the Arts is proud to announce funding that will help arts organizations such as Gemini Ink re-engage fully with partners and audiences,” said NEA Acting Chairman Ann Eilers. “Although the arts have sustained many during the pandemic, the chance to gather with one another and share arts experiences is its own necessity and pleasure.”
